5 days Lake Toba tour

Day 1.
Arrival in Medan - city tour.

Overnight stay in hotel situated just outside Medan in the middle of a tropical garden. Here you can rest after the long journey or swim or make a walk in the neighbourhood.

Day 2.
Medan - Lake Toba by the plantation route.

Today you drive along endless palm tree, rubber and cacao plantations and through the historic city of Pematang Siantar. We suggest you to take a break at the hotel Siantar, built in 1912. In the afternoon you will arrive in Prapat on the borders of Lake Toba, where you cross the lake by ferry to the island Samosir. The car goes with you to the island. 2 overnight stays in hotel directly on the lakeside.

Day 3.
Samosir - tour to Tomok, Ambarita and Simanindo.

This is a beautiful tour over the island. You can visit the typical Toba Batak villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with execution tables and Simanindo with traditional dances.

Day 4.
Samosir - Prapat - Brastagi.

The route takes you from Prapat, along the edge of the lake, to the Karo highlands. En route you pass the tribal kings' house of the Simalungun Batak in Pematung Purba, the Sipiso Piso falls and pineapple, ginger and clove plantations. In the afternoon you will arrive at the cool mountain resort of Brastagi. Overnight stay in hotel in Brastagi.

Day 5.
Brastagi - Medan.

The last day of your North Sumatra tour you descend to the coastal lowlands of Medan along an impressive route through the jungle. After arriving in Medan you proceed to the airport for your next destination.

6 days Tangkahan - Bukit Lawang tour

Day 1.
Medan - Tangkahan (5 hours drive).
We will fetch you from the airport and depart to Tangkahan (5 hours driving). Today you can make an appointment with the elephant trainer to visit the elephant camp. If you ride an elephant you have to pay on the spot. 2 overnight stays in hotel in Tangkahan.

Day 2.
Tangkahan - fullday trekking.

Today you have a full day jungle program in the primary rainforest. After breakfast you start in the morning for a fullday trekking with local guide. You can this day also go to the elephants according the appointment with the elephant trainer. In the afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 3.
Tangkahan - Elephant jungle trekking - Bukit Lawang.

In the morning depart for Bohorok/Bukit Lawang with a four wheel drive car via the plantations. In this impressive nature reserve you can see the orang utans feeding in their natural environment. This involves a 45 minutes walk through the jungle
to reach the feeding grounds of the orang utan. The sportive hiker can also take exciting jungle trips here. However walkers must be fit and have suitable, large profile shoes. 2 overnight stays in hotel.

Day 4.
Bukit Lawang - rafting.

We will take you to Mariki, starting point of your Wampu river rafting experience. This Wampu river rafting trip is a fascinating adventure with many grade 2 rapids. You will make the rafting with local guides. The trip takes about 4 hours down the Wampu river. Minimum age is ca. 10 years. You will enjoy the beautiful nature, sailing on a wide jungle river in the midst of unspoiled impressive huge rainforest. All around you can see and hear the tropical wildlife. Half way you will make a stop at a waterfall where you can take a fresh shower and lunch in the open air. Lunch is included. After lunch you will continue the rafting for about 2 hours until the bridge of the Bohorok river. After arrive in Bohorok we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 5.
Bohorok - 3 hours jungle trekking - Medan airport.

Early in the morning leave Bukit Lawang to start jungle trekking for 3 hours with an experienced local guide in the tropical primary rainforest. Around noon you depart for Medan. The route takes around 3,5 hours. Overnight stay in hotel Deli River. Here you can have a rest or swim after your long journey.

Day 6.
Hotel - airport Medan.

This day we transfer you to the airport of Medan for the flight to your next destination. End of your trip on Sumatra.
