Mysterious ship wrecks can be found in the waters all around the world, and wreck diving has huge amounts of fans among scuba divers.

BALI - TULAMBEN. USS Liberty shipwreck

Location: A small town on the north-eastern coast of Bali, which is a 2.5hr drive from Sanura. Most of the diving sites are accessible directly from the shore or by taking a short ride in one of the local boats.

Our recommendation: The USS Liberty wreck is one of the most famous dives. It is a must-see site when scuba diving around Bali, as it has spectacular reef gardens, and is undoubtedly a paradise for photographers. Tulamben on the other hand is a perfect spot for night diving and unforgettable dives during sunrise.

Advancement level: 1

Diving conditions: There are rarely any currents, and those that happen are very gentle. Water surface is usually very calm; however large waves may occur in the beginning of year or summer. Water temperature is usually between 27 and 28 ºC.

Site description: The USS Liberty wreck, victim of the World War II, located 7-30 meters deep, is a world-renowned diving destination in Bali. On top of that, the coral reefs, gorgonias, aneamons and thousands of colorful fish make it a very spectacular area. It is also a perfect site for octopus, cuttle fish, skrzydlice, manta rays, barracudas as well as riggerfish, sweetlips, midnight snapper, clownfish, angelfish, razorfish.

BALI - MENJANGAN ISLAND. A wooden boat wreck

Location: This small island belongs to The Bali National Park and is located in the north-western end of Bali. It is a 3-hour drive from Sanura, followed by a 30-minute boat ride. Due to the relatively long journey to the island, it is recommended to stay overnight after diving. Our recommendation: 35 meters deep there is a wooden ship wreck. There are also amazing wall diving destinations, with spectacular, colorful corals.

Advancement level: 1-2

Diving conditions: Due to the shielded island corner, there are easy diving conditions. Water is warm, and has probably the greatest visibility around Bali.

Site description: The wreck anchor can be spotted already from the boat. About 35 meters deep there are parts of the old wooden shipwreck.

KOMODO - The unnamed wreck

The no name wreck of a fishing boat, after the tragic cruise (waters got into the insides, and the tightening attempts gave no success) was taken into the shallows in a calm gulf by the south-eastern part of Komodo. Currently the wreck houses huge amounts of glass fish and bat fish. Wooden and metal parts are covered with corals, while the corners are where the groupers are hiding.

The wreck is located a few meters under the water. The relatively low depth and lack of currents make it easily accessible both for experienced scuba divers as well as for those who are training for the Wreck Diving PADI specialization.
